Our role in this project began with development of the original business case for a new control center model for Shell.  The new facility consolidates all process control divisions under one roof and positions this blast-resistant nucleus of the plan at a safer, perimeter location.  The consolidation of all process controls facilitates communication between operators and makes a holistic, whole-process view possible.  We worked with Emerson and Shell to develop the process integration idea, create business plans and perform cost/benefit analysis.  This mission-critical facility utilizes redundant power to ensure uninterrupted operation, tested and proven successful during Hurricane Ike.  In additional, we also provided our expertise in designing a configuration to optimize lighting to facilitate the space’s 24/7 shift work, helping employees better adjust to work during non-traditional work hours.
