English + Associates provided full-service interior design services for AMEC Paragon at the new Sam Houston Crossing building.  The Project was completed using Revit, a type of Building Information Modeling (BIM) software.  Because the building was new and AMEC Paragon was moving in first-generation space, the Project was an ideal choice for the software.  Revit allowed English + Associates to test several design concepts with the Client.  The software also allowed us to coordinate the design work with our engineering consultants in a full 3-D integrated process and to virtually highlight construction conflicts in the early planning phases.  The design concepts reviewed spun off a Programming exercise that was used to help create new office use standards by AMEC Paragon.

The success of the project also revolved around keeping an open-office feel and maintaining differing levels of separation between AMEC Paragon employees and the Clients that co-shared the office.  Our creativity was challenged as we found simple, yet effective solutions to separate teams where client confidentiality was a priority.

English + Associates worked with AMEC Paragon and their construction manager from Studley to deliver the project on time and on budget.  We were also asked to integrate several green office strategies into the project during design- without increasing the budget or the Project duration.  Green strategies incorporated include:

  • Construction waste management to keep recyclable waste out of the landfill
  • Low and No VOC finishes and adhesives
  • High recycled content building materials, including carpet and ceiling tile
  • Worked with Client’s furniture vendor to locate used furniture workstations that met all of their needs
